Thought For the Day

20 Feb

Do we want our kids to be test-takers or problem-solvers?

Which type of kids is our public school system churning out?

Here’s my question back…..If we all know that this is public school agenda, why do families convince themselves that this is the best thing ever? Or have a mentality of…if it ain’t broke why fix it??? I went through it & i turned out okay. Right, we’ve heard these things…I want to say ” You only want okay, your child wants great”.. Be it, Montessori, Homeschooling, Online program, whatever philosophy…great is elsewhere. I’m a bit partial to Montessori šŸ™‚

I completely agree… And the fact is, most of us went through the public school system 20+ years ago, way before No Child Left Behind took away what little freedom and creativity traditional teachers were afforded back then. Mediocrity is rampant in our society: just consider the parents who say “If I keep my child in Montessori for their kindergarten year, won’t they know too much?” If that’s not the saddest statement ever…

I’ve heard that too…unbelieveable….my boys are in 9,7,& 2 & they already plan to graduate High School with college credits…when parents research educational plans…it can be limitless…so why start putting limits on educational “benchmarks” …”know too much?”…how about they (public schools) give too little. šŸ™‚
